A MONTH!?

The main topic of this blog is meant to be cycling, and this being my first winter as a cyclist, I knew I wouldn’t have much to write on about bikes. I have ventured into fashion, makeup, and otherwise personal posts. That’s a bit of a downer to me personally, since it seems like I’m losing interest in SD all together…until I got on her today:

It’s a recycled outfit, seen before, I just wanted to feel comfy
Dress: Old Navy
Sweater: LYS
Boots: Uggs
Belt: Rainbow
Spring is definitely well on its way here in NYC, we’ve been hitting close to 70 for about a week or so! I am upset I’ll be losing all my awesome winter accessories, but happy I don’t need to bundle all the way up. Todays ride was local, frustrating(at first since it was a new route and destination), and rewarding all at the same time. Confused? You should be. How am I not? This is a normal day in the emotional rollercoaster that is my life!

Terribly written directions…I need to hand write more.

I love shadow shots :D
We needed to wind through sections of the Cross Bronx/Whitestone and Hutchison Highways..although I did ride through it back when I did the Tour De Bronx., it was still a bit much for taking a month off of riding.

being the time it was(6pm)..traffic was a-flowin

but at least making it out alive means you get a water view!
Getting a bit lost, confused, angry and sweaty, we made it my liddle sis’ place to do my good deed for the week.

I handed over my awesome 25th Birthday dress to a deserving person. I was toying with the idea of selling it for a while and was hesitant, but knowing its going to a loving home, I handed it right over! She was stressing about finding the perfect outfit for her little man’s 1st birthday party, I was stressing about a bill, it worked out great! I even got to see my widdle (grumpy) nephew-
IMG_2235
at least I got one good pic!
The ride back, as always, was way easier, and it hit me that this was part of the 25-mile route for the Bronx Tour! It was tough realizing it on the way there..maybe because of the slight rage..but it only took 10 minutes to get home!
I may have to ride there more often.

Oh yes, it’s ladies night!

Know what’s kinda sad? I don’t remember my last girls night. Honestly. I’ve been consumed by other things, I suppose..but that’s not a good excuse! So after a long-awaited return to the night-life, Friday was the day to step on out!

My BOOTD(bike outfit of the day) pretty much are things you’ve seen before

Being the city-dweller I am, I often take my bike on the train. It’s an easy way to get away from your neighborhood, and tour all that the other four boroughs have to offer! Also $2.50 for a mini-getaway ‘aint too damn shabby :) Regardless of that, IT’S A PAIN IN THE ASS!!! And my long-time, back-to-biking, babe M found that out today!

IMG_1505

Killin the “bike on train” strategy!

IMG_1507

WITH them boots…haaaaawt

We take the 5 train to Borough Hall in Brooklyn, which is really the only area of BK I’m familiar with, and map out our bike ride from there to the event. We took the Dean Street Lane all the way there!

IMG_1512

yes, we’re going the right way!

IMG_1515

only one good panda was taken :/

After about a half hour of pedaling, we arrive, park our bikes, and headed inside this quaint total-DIY studio!

A little background on the straight awesomeness going on here:

Sue Rock is an amazingly generous and wonderful person who is doing something something so noble for the community-

Sue Rock Originals is an eco-fashion brand of "back to basics" separates which are flattering to every figure! Be a Sue Rock Original! Sue Rock Originals is a Brooklyn based green clothing line available at high end boutiques throughout the New York area.

There are classes on knitting, crocheting, sewing your own clothes all for women who were victims of domestic abuse, as well as the general public. But todays Ladies night was surrounded by sorting through BAAAAAAAAGS of bras/undies/nighties(ALL DONATED AND NEW!) in preparation for a lingerie sale coming up!

 IMG_1526IMG_1532IMG_1547

Dude…this wasn’t even 1/4th of the donations….

Sorting bras by number and size gets a girl thinkin’..women are more obsessed with boobies than men! Think about it…Aren’t you always looking at your own, seeing if they look good? Looking at other women's, in comparison? YEP YOU DO ;) Anyhoo, these were brand new underroos, either samples or completely tagged so its not like these donations were taken from just anybody. Besides helping a great cause, the night was filled with food, wine, and great people! Every woman there was just beautiful, inside and out!

O where to start?

Jess, PJ, and Myrna <3 Finally got meet PJ, she’s been my friend on Facebook for the longest!

It was really good for my soul..to be helping a cause and hanging out with such cool women. It was just what I needed! Never again will so much time pass before another girls-only event! If you’d like to help out this fab place do some fab things and are a New Yorker here is the address:

1069 Bergen Street
between Nostrand and Rogers Avenues
Crown Heights North
Brooklyn, NY

Lingerie isn’t the only thing offered here either…but you wouldn’t know that by looking at what I scored for 20 bucks!

IMG_1582

Mina-chan even likes what I scored :)

Other greatness I MUST mention:

I took part in the “I Stand against Weight Bullying” Campaign by author Marilyn Wann(of FAT!SO?) This is been a HUGE reaction to the Georgia’s fat-shaming ads:

strong-4-life-ads

Regardless of where you personally stand, I took part of this as the little girl growing up being teased and ridiculed back in school, who is standing up for herself and others like her. We are all people, and need to be treated as such…my sister-in-ink Melanie knows the deal. I cannot be more proud to have had this made and to be part of the backlash and revolt against this “Strong 4 life” BULLSHIT!

health, wealth and love at every size

Reuniting with my best friend…and meeting my godchildren!

I have always counted myself a lucky girl. For more reasons than one, I am bestowed a handful of people I consider best friends. Well the “first” of many would be my dearest Courtney. In the passed three years he; moved to Cali, had kids, got married, and made a life for them all out West! I couldn't be prouder of him, but of course, missed him so. Through the grapevine of friends and family of friends, I heard he and his little family were visiting! This passed Saturday, I joyfully head over to my old stomping ground(yet again!) with Sandra Dee between my legs :)

God mommy will never show up empty handed! I believe in showering my loves with gifts.

I get to Grand Central..and it’s pretty quiet..

DSCN4898DSCN4901

I was a bit spooked I will not lie, but it was probably due to all the precautions the City was taking on the anniversary of 9-11-2001.

I was SUPER packed for this trip. I was also testing out the Detours Transit Box rear rack bag I won from a giveaway on Cycle & Style..great site for lady bikers alike! I was also given a Bell foldable pannier…lucky lucky me Winking smileReviews up soon

DSCN4903DSCN4904

I get to Queens, and as always, am flooded with happiness to be back home Smile

DSCN4909DSCN4910

Still SO happy to see my old streets lined with bike friendliness Smile

Made it to the ‘hood, instantly greeted and awe-stricken by me rollin in on my sweet-ass ride! Turned out they were having a Birthday BBQ…I PICKED THE PERFECT DAY TO STOP BY!

DSCN4943DSCN4944DSCN4947DSCN4952

Couldn’t wait to give them their gifts! These are my god babies: Da’sani and Courtney Jr. aka CJ. I finally get to meet them..and MY GOD I fell in in love with them immediately, and am so honored to be the one entrusted with them if any unspeakable happened..along with another best friend of mine Jay:

DSCN4954

aww! he loves his uncle/godfather :)

It was a great day that turned out to be more than expected, I mean I saw damn near ALL MY BFF’S IN ONE PLACE! That hasn’t happened since freakin High School! Here’s a few of my fav shots of this super great day:

DSCN4922DSCN4928DSCN4965DSCN4973DSCN4976DSCN4977DSCN4996DSCN4998DSCN4999DSCN5010DSCN5012DSCN5018DSCN5020DSCN5022DSCN5067DSCN5073DSCN5076DSCN5082

If your my friend on Facebook, then you can check out the rest :)

I seriously wish there was a way to bottle up that entire day…it was perfection. Friends are everything to me, I have had the same friends for years and that isn’t changing a bit. I’ll see my loves again soon <3
