One month goal: Train for the Tour while recharging my routine.

 

For the next month I will be blogging about fitness and health, on top of bike blogging, since I am back on my routine for the Tour De Bronx. All summer I haven’t cared what I ate, haven’t gone to the gym, didn’t take one vitamin..all in all didn’t give a crap. All I wanted to do was ride my bike to new places, hang out with hubb and pals, and just enjoy the summer. I haven’t had such a great summer since Daddy was around so trust me, I don’t really care how neglectful I was. I usually hate summer, but because of my bike(and Hubb), I actually had a great summer! SO LONG SUMMER! Autumn is here and I cannot be happier! My heart is in the cold months <3. On top of the excitement for Fall riding-I’m uber anxious for my one year wedding anniversary costume party this Halloween! I’m going frantic with ideas and such…expect a post on that!

Today I started off my conditioning training for the Tour, Hubb and I ride over to the gym(best warmup EVER!):

We live between two highways and along a busy avenue..this does not intimidate me anymore though, CONQUERED!

I’m declaring this my “before” shot…Lets see how far I get in a month.

45 minutes on the treadmill…20 on the stationary bike..I could of gone for another hour!

Your eyes are working fine…I took one of my famous panda shots while on the stationary..I couldn’t help it ;p Wore my Century tour shirt I got for free at Summer Streets…I plan on doing that Tour next year!

Bikes, scooters and Heidi braids

I didn’t get enough exercise it seems.. I ended up biking to The Kids school to pick him up. My body seems to have missed activity, I have way too much energy for my own good.

I feel compelled to mention this: I am not doing this for vanity. NOT AT ALL. Although I am pretty healthy(doctor confirmed), I am the type that always reaches for the better. I believe there’s always room to grow, always room to make better choices, and this is what this is about. I am not a self-hating plus chick and never will be, I am a self-improving chick.

Last day of Summer Streets-First day of Lady riding :)

Today being the last day for Summer Streets is a bit depressing. Such a wonderful thing brought to NYC, it’s a shame it didn’t last longer…but it’s wonderful I got to experience it! With Hubb! and new gal pals! Kicking off the last day of Summer Streets, Hubb and I get off at 72nd, and start biking towards the entrance. I was ubber surprised to see a fellow retro-loving, vintage toting, tattoo coated lady biker I look up too: Ms Sheryl! If your a bike chick in NYC, then you must be a fan of her blog. I have been waiting to ride into her, and what better day?! So we start riding the Route, chit-chatting, learning more about one another, exchange of praises on wardrobe and bikes, and of course grab some pics!

That was only the start of my Lady biking today, but definitely the way to start one Your so cool Ms. Sheryl! I hope to have the pleasure to hang n ride with you again! HOPE YOUR HAVING A GREAT BIRTHDAY!
Once I rode all the way to the end and started the ride back up to the start, me and Ms. Sheryl parted ways at the Midtown rest stop where a bunch more rad chicks by bike(and bike-bloggers!)


I was able to meet some cool chicks I look up too: Ms Julie, Ms Malaika, Ms Maureen and Ms. Kimberly…also able to ride with them for a bit too! Julie led the way to a place that’s THE definition of summer

This lil guy is named Houdini, and is Kim’s cute biking buddy He was great to have around, animals make everything even better !

We arrive at Imperial Snowballs on the west villy(we rode from the east village), and immediately I fell in love with its quaintness!

Hubb was surrounded by some pretty ladies today..he loved it..and so did the ladies
Before we knew it it was about 2ish(probably) and we started to part ways

Once it was just me and hubb, we couldn’t decide where to catch the train..so we continued on 1st ave and 21st Street..all the way to Lex and 125th…big ride today, but it felt fantastic!

We shared the lane with fellow cyclists today..they were out in full force! plus how cool is that bike stop light?? I WANTED TO STEAL IT! 800+ Calories burned later and I am BUSHED. Great ending to Summer Streets, and great beginning in my journey as a Lady Biker :)
